If you were to look at the ingredients on a can of soda, you'd find that it contains a large amount of water in fact, soda is made up of almost all water. Since water expands when cooled, the liquid in a can of soda will expand when frozen. Soda cans are designed to hold a specific volume of liquid. When placed in the freezer, the water in the soda expands inside the can, and the volume becomes greater than what the can was designed to hold.
This pressure causes the can to become strained and to eventually POP when left in the freezer for too long - leaving you with a messy surprise to clean up in your freezer!

So getting started is the difficult stage. Once it is formed, however, a smaller amount of energy again on a per molecule basis is needed for additional liquid molecules to vaporize and expand the bubble. Because shaking the can introduces lots of small bubbles into the liquid, the dissolved gas can more easily vaporize by joining existing bubbles rather than forming new ones.

When a can or bottle of soda is unopened, there is an equilibrium between that is dissolved carbon in the tap water — potassium bicarbonate mixture and the carbon gas floating at the top of the can or bottle. Opening the can or bottle of soda results in fizzing. Shaking the can or bottle before opening the soda, however, allows some of the carbon floating at the top of your soda to get suspended in the liquid.
This extra carbon stays in your soda as bigger bubbles than the carbon that is already dissolved, even though the bubbles may look the same size to the human eye. These large bubbles quickly rise to the surface of the soda, causing an explosion on your innocent friend! All you would have to do is let your soda sit unopened for a while , before eventually opening it.
This allows the large bubbles to work themselves out of the soda, and back to the top of the soda where they should be in the first place. Soda fizzes because of carbonation and goes flat if it is left open for too long. Other factors for flatness are whether the can or bottle of gets shaken, rolled, or thrown, the material surrounding the soda, and the temperature of the soda.
